Information
- Buckets and Band – Some of our classes are doing bucket drumming, and the band students have been working really hard on a couple of pieces that are sounding really good. On March 10, between recess and lunch, we’ll be having a sharing assembly for them to show other students (and interested adults) what they’ve got going on! We expect to start around 10:50. This just in! The Ukuleles of Division 5 are also performing.
- Student-Led Conferences are coming Wednesday and Thursday this week. Click here to register for a time slot to come to the classroom with your kids so they can show you what they’ve been up to at school.
- Students will be receiving special sessions of instruction in lacrosse on Monday and Tuesday this week. We’re excited to have this opportunity from Langley Minor Lacrosse.
- When we come back from the break, we will be changing some of our procedures to help deal with the playground litter, animal and other challenges that we continue to face as a school community. Students will be given an opportunity to eat a quick snack immediately before or after recess (depending on each class’ schedule), and no food will be allowed outside either during recess or at lunch. This will help us address both the litter problem and other challenges we face around uncontrolled food outside.
De la PAC!
- It’s Treat Day this Friday!
- And don’t forget to Raise Dough for West Langley at Cob’s Bread in Walnut Grove. Mention the school when you make your purchases, and Cob’s makes a donation to the PAC.
Something to think about…
- Someone told me it was going to rain for the next two weeks solid. That got me thinking about Spring Break in the rain. Here are some staycation ideas for rainy days.
- So, your kids are going to Walnut Grove soon? Here’s a fantastic talk by Ryan Radford, one of the educators waiting for them. It excites me that I see so much of the harnessing of passion Mr. Radford talks about in this school already – Genius Hour, Passion Projects, Inquiry units all let students leverage their passions to improve learning.
- I didn’t watch the Oscars, but this commercial apparently aired during them:
This is not an endorsement!
