Happy Easter, everyone!
Information
- Now that we are back from the break, we are changing some of our procedures to help deal with the playground litter, animals and other challenges that we continue to face as a school community. Students will be given an opportunity to eat a quick snack immediately before or after recess (depending on each class’ schedule), and no food will be allowed outside either during recess or at lunch. This will help us address both the litter problem and other challenges we face around uncontrolled food outside. Please try to send ‘quick’ snack food for the recess break – 100 little crackers are a bit slow sometimes.
- Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat is playing at Walnut Grove Secondary in the coming weeks, and stars a former WLE student. Shows are April 7-9 and 14-16. Tickets here.
- Hot Lunch Ordering closes April 1. Check munchalunch to place your order.

- And don’t forget to Raise Dough for West Langley at Cob’s Bread in Walnut Grove. Mention the school when you make your purchases, and Cob’s makes a donation to the PAC.
Something to think about…
- When my kids were younger, we read a book called Ruby in Her Own Time. This article by Jessica Lahey reminded me of that: Give Late Blooming Children the Time They Need.
- Why are our kids so miserable? I don’t necessarily agree with all of this, but parts of it resonate, for sure. I like the fact that it finds that some of the challenges kids face predate the current rise of tech exposure.
- 49 Phrases to Calm an Anxious Child. I’ve heard teachers, parents, and even other kids use these, so they’re not ‘all new’ or anything, but they still can help. It’s a lot to remember, but if we have even a couple ‘memorized’ and available, it’s a help for some kids.
