Information
- Hold the date! Our Christmas Concert is scheduled for Tuesday, December 18. There will be the traditional afternoon (1:00) and evening (6:30) shows.
- School Photo Retakes are Monday November 19 in the morning.
- It looks like the temperature is finally dropping. With that drop will come the river fog and incredible black ice our parking lot seems to form. Please watch the temperatures as you come to school, and choose a route that offers the best traction underfoot. Crews salt for us, but sometimes they don’t get to us at a time that ensures uniform traction, particularly on those mornings when it is 1 degree at 6:00 and then -1 at 7:55.
- The Grade 7 Camp Fundraising committee will be hosting a movie afternoon (after school) on November 23. There will be popcorn and drinks for sale, and Sherlock Gnomes will be playing.
- The Scholastic Book Fair is this week. Thanks to the volunteers who have signed up; the event can’t go on without you. If you are available to volunteer, please sign up here.
PAC Happenings
FUNDRAISING:
Our annual Holiday Funrdaiser is still underway this week. Gift Cards (Save On, Amazon, Cineplex, and many many more!) and Neufeld Foods can be ordered until November 21. All money raised is spent during this same school year. This will contribute towards literacy, cultural experiences, technology resources in your child’s classroom, field trips and many other positive ways. Historically, the Holiday Fundraises contributes approximately $2,000 towards the PAC.
All purchases help out, no matter how big or small.
Thank you for your support!
COMMUNICATION:
PAC information is shared through weekly emails from Mr.Oliver, Monthly PAC newsletters, and reminders on our Facebook page. Contact us directly at westlangleypac@outlook.com if you have questions, comments or concerns.

Interesting Reading & Viewing
- This article caught my interest. Granted, Psychology Today isn’t an academic journal, but it makes an interesting point here, claiming that Punishment Doesn’t Work.
- I’m not suggesting that we’ll start a fire-making course here at WLE, but this article also got my attention: How perceptions of ‘danger’ can change after making fire with four year olds…
- This article sent me down several rabbit holes of linked resources. There’s a self-actualization quiz, and a link to 5 personality traits that correlate with health. Do you have a healthy personality? Reading the article took me back to earlier reading I have done about the importance of gratitude and appreciation.
