This Week at WLE – January 22, 2017

Posted: January 22, 2017

Information

  • The Langley School District are beginning a consultation process around Middle School implementation in the Walnut Grove region. These changes could impact the younger students in our school. This letter went out, inviting parents to be a part of the process.
  • Thanks to Mrs. Thacker who shared notice of this great-sounding workshop on anxiety happening on January 24th at WGSS. Anxiety workshop for parents at WGSS. This one looks very interesting, and at $5 it’s a bargain. Intended for adults. Seating is limited. Tickets here.
  • Screen Shot 2017-01-22 at 3.43.18 PMHere’s another interesting workshop on understanding and coping with anxiety. It runs on February 6 at the board office, and is organized by the District PAC.
  • Parents of grade 4 and 7 students, this letter should have come home to you last week regarding the Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA). Students will be writing FSAs over the next 4 weeks. Those tests, while not popular, provide us with useful insights into student learning and our teaching.
  • Speaking of WGSS, grade 7 families, it’s time to start thinking about high school. Yikes! On February 2, there is an open house at WGSS, so you and your kids can go to find out about programs, what to expect in high school, and more! Follow this link for a flyer: WGSS GRADE 7 OPEN HOUSE.

PAC Happenings

TUESDAY January 24th is the next PAC meeting. Join us at 6pm in the library to hear what the PAC is up to, and all the latest and greatest information about West Langley Elementary. PAC meetings are a great way to stayed informed, share your thoughts and ideas, and meet other people at the school.

Child Minding will be available.

WEDNESDAY January 25th is Hot Lunch. No need to pack a lunch. The Hot Lunch Ladies and all the classroom parents will be working hard delivering Boston Pizza Pasta to students. Delicious!

Extra menu items will be available at the PAC room for any students that missed ordering online with Munchalunch.

STAY TUNED…….

Friday February 17th is West Langley’s 1st Family movie night. Save the date and make plans to spend time with family and friends while helping to support our school. More details to follow next week.
