- You may or may not know that WGSS now has a cook training program where students can complete the first year of their apprenticeships while still in high school. As part of that program, they are pleased to announce the opening of their new restaurant, One Season. I have had the chance to sample the food already, and it is fantastic, and the value it represents is outstanding. Here’s a sample menu.

Quote of the Week
Interesting Reading & Viewing
- Grading students has an impact, for better or for worse.
- Some of you might be familiar with Carol Dweck’s Growth Mindset. It is a compelling model and one that has found lots of traction in recent years, in education and beyond. Misapply it, though, and praise becomes a consolation prize. In this interview, she talks about the ‘false growth mindset’ and how to combat it. She suggests that adults praise kids’ process and strategy, rather than person, outcome or effort. It’s a long read (by internet standards), but a good one.
- We know about the importance of reading at home. How about bedtime bath, as well? It turns out that Adding Math to a Child’s Home Routine Can Advance Achievement. Here’s a direct link to the App Developer mentioned in the story, bedtimemath.org.
